Access Granted

Seriously... everytime I try to get online from my Grandma's house...It's like a little piece of my soul dies. ::sigh:: However, today the clouds have parted and I've been allowed in. Very exciting. So, lots to cover... Let's get started.

First item of business: The Oscars
I went to go see Brokeback Mountain the day of the Oscars and it was absolutely amazing. It really was as good as everyone says it is. The unfortunate thing about that movie (or other great "gay" films like Jeffrey, It's My Party) is that the people that need to see them never will. Anyway... As for winning Best Picture... I can say that I think Crash should have won. Both films have a clear message, and both films were great... But for me, I think Crash is more relevant on a world wide level. I loved Crash so much and so I'm excited that maybe now more people will go to see it since it won. My picks for best dressed: Uma Thurman, Keira Knightley, and Jessica Alba. Worst Dressed: Charlize Theron...It was like a bad bride's maid dress... Gone wrong. No, not good.

Second item of business: Movies

  • Rent: huh. Now, granted the movie is never the same as the stage production, however.... Just judging the music and story.... Huh. If you're not aware... Rent is basically the story of the most cursed apartment building ever. Just about everyone that lives in the same building happens to have AIDS... Wow... Big coincidence. And then they all pair off.. Fall in love.. Fight it because they have AIDS...Fight "the man" for their right to be unsuccessful... And watch each other die. In other words... It's really fun. The movie saved me having to spend money on the stage production though... 5 hundred, 25 thousand, 600 reasons to be thankful. Thumbs Down.
  • Domino: I liked it... Good times. Really good bonus material on the DVD.
  • Red Eye: Also good... I recommend it.
  • The Legend of Zorro: Antonio Banderas. That's all that matters. Yummy.

Next item of business: Family Feud Stupid Answer O' The Day

Question: We asked 100 single women; Name an Australian actor who you wouldn't mind taking out back?

Answer given by lady: "Captain Kangaroo." ?!?

Next item of business: Katie Couric

I'm not the only one who dislikes her apparently. Entertainment weekly recently did a piece on her potentially leaving NBC for another network. In response, here is a letter they received from a reader:

"I can see why Katie Couric's popularity has fallen from 24 to 19 percent. In the past, Couric was insightful, passionate, and "journalistic" in her approach to the entertainment-style Today show. Now she seems smug, opinionated, and annoyed with her cohosts and guests. Once a direct interviewer, Couric now seems to not only ask the questions but answer them herself! Today has become a show about Katie Couric interviewing Katie Couric and expressing her biases through her obvious sighs, head shakes, and eye rolls."

That's what I'm saying! Totally!

And the last item of business: I touched Jon Bon Jovi. I'm just saying...
