Rake up Colorado

My mother and I volunteer for the Democrats and as part of that they had a bunch of us work with the Volunteers of America for the 5th Annual Rake Up Colorado event this past weekend. Basically this is an event where volunteers rake leaves for seniors and disabled people who aren't able to do it themselves. This was the first time we've done this event... and I've got to say it will probably be the last, lol. Wow... I had no idea that raking was so hard. Never having lived in a house, I've never raked before. So, the whole thing was quite a shock for me. Raking leaves sucks balls! Big ones. Mom and I worked with another Democratic volunteer, Amy, who was so cute and so much fun to work with. Thank you dear baby Jesus for Amy. Amy had a better rake, and experience. ;D Priceless. lol We thought we were being so smart picking 2 houses out in our area rather than downtown (because then we're so close to home..right? This was a mistake.) See, the difference is that the yards downtown are MUCH smaller than the yards out by us. In fact, the two places we chose ended up being 2 farms. NOT so much fun. I twisted my ankle and have severe back pain still, but I am so glad that we went. It really does feel good to help people out. The second lady we helped was 82 and followed us around with her walker to keep us company. She cried when we left and kept calling us angels. It was really touching. Next time though, I'll be going for the book sorting at the library or something like that.
